Mission of Series
To create a series of books with timely topics that
children love because of the interesting stories
and characters, and that parents/adults seek out
because they are well suited to be read aloud, stimulate
the mind, and offer a springboard for the discussion
of important and current issues.
Vision of Series
To express the author’s deep interest in providing
tools to develop children’s reading and problem-solving
skills, and to position the author to share her
message to parents, educators and other interested
adults nationwide.

Currently there are a minimum of nine stories
planned. The stories are told through the eyes of
the cats and a myriad of outdoor animals who live
at Friday Harbor. Although Friday Harbor is the
name of author Stormy Friday’s home on Dividing
Creek off of the Chesapeake Bay, the books represent
Friday Harbor more as a magical place.
The Series Brand
Signal’s Airport Adventure is the first in
the Tails from Friday Harbor™ series of books featuring
lovable kittens, Telegraph and Signal. Children
will grow up with the kittens and identify with
their adventures. Adults will seek out the Tails from Friday Harbor™ logo as an assurance of quality.
Each book will offer one or more opportunities for
adult/child discussion, and the topic will be clearly
disclosed on the cover notes.
Benefits of Series
Reading aloud to children offers them widely known
educational benefits, including the opportunity
for expanding vocabulary through context, understanding
the cadence of the written word, and making the
connection between the text and the illustrations.
Tails from Friday Harbor™ books also offer problem-solving,
resulting in stimulation of key higher-order thinking
skills. The story lines also offer a chance for
parents/adults and children to engage in values-based
discussions about contemporary issues.
